Common Reporting Errors - Under Development
A number of reporting errors occur frequently in the use of the template.
Units
Units that should be used for specific variables are defined in the reporting template and should not be changed. In practice, however, the use of different units
often leads to reporting errors. Please avoid the following common unit errors:
- Population in million (not billion)
- GDP in billion US$ (not trillion)
- CO2 emissions in MtCO2/yr (not GtCO2 or GtC)
- CH4 emissions in MtCH4/yr (not in CO2-eq emissions)
- N2O emissions in ktN2O/yr (not in CO2-eq emissions)
- F-Gas emissions in MtCO2-eq (not in GtCO2-eq)
Net Values
In the calculation of net values often the wrong convention is adopted:
- Costs should be in positive numbers. Negative numbers mean benefits.
- Consumption and GDP losses: Please make sure that they match the difference of Baseline Consumption / GDP minus Policy Consumption / GDP.
- Trade = Exports Imports: Positive numbers mean net exports, negative numbers net imports.
